The first Eco Rap living seawall and shoreline was installed in April 2016 by Reef Innovations and Reef Ball Foundation. 
 

After repairing a severely eroded seawall last year, the City of Palmetto is using reef balls in a new way to protect the seawall along the Manatee River from erosion.

1,000 feet of seawall will be was lined with the custom-made reef balls.

“It will protect the seawall and buffer it from tides and rough weather. The reef balls embellish, enhance and attract habitat ... animals and critters to live in the wall,” explains Shirley Groover Bryant, Palmetto mayor.
