We have different quality control requirements, and pricing structures based on the usage of Reef Ball technologies.  When you call for a quote for molds or modules you need to identify which of these categories that apply to your project.

  • Reef Balls for Biological/Recreational Uses
    (>30 ft or protected water, permitted as an artificial reef)

  • Reef Balls for Living Shorelines
    (within 200 meters of shore, no human structures)

  • Reef Balls for Living Seawalls
    (Permitted as seawall)

  • Reef Balls for Living Docks
    (Permitted as dock)

  • Reef Balls for Planting Red Mangroves
    (for high energy or planting deeper than Red Mangroves normally grow)

  • Reef Balls for Memorials
    (Reef Balls with human cremains / Eternal Reefs)

  • Reef Balls for Erosion Control/Beach Protection
    (Reef Balls with crest + or - 2 meters of the biologial tide line and within 200 meters of shoreline in area with littoral drifting sands or when human structures are being protected)

  • Reef Ball Anchoring Systems when required
    (fiberglass rebar, battered piles, SS cables, anchoring cones, anchoring spikes, concrete bases or any other Reef Ball adaptation designed to withstand horizonal forces, subsidence or movement)

  • Reef Ball Layer Cake and hybrid modules
    (Made with Reef Ball molds typically for ledge species or visual appeal)

  • Specialty Modules
    (Made without Reef Ball molds but using Reef Ball technologies such as our concrete mix design, our surface texturing, vortexed holes, attachment adapters, reef ball plaques, reef ball anchoring techiques, etc.)

  • Reef Balls for mitigation
    (when the Reef Balls are required by law to be built)

  • Reef Balls for public display
    (such as public aquariums, or other educational or public displays.  Generally these are provided free minus transportation if appropriate signage is attached)

  • Reef Balls for philantropy or educational uses
    (requires a press release, a bonafide public benefit and 3 years of monitoring but qualifys for grant discounts)
